Nelson D. Galvis-Garrido

Nelson is a 5th year medical student at Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia. His summer research at MAPP focuses on understanding and characterizing successful aging in a population of elderly unimpaired individuals who are APOE 2 carriers in Antioquia, Colombia. Since the start of his medical career, he has been passionate about research, especially in the field of dementia, he is now the academic coordinator of a Student-Research Group called SINAPSIS which was founded by Dr. Yakeel Quiroz. Nelson is also a Young Researcher at the Group of Neuroscience of Antioquia, where he is currently working in the laboratory of Dr. Patricia Cardona under the supervision of Dr. David Aguillón, their work now aims to find the lipid signature of dementia years before its onset on a population with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease (EOAD). Nelson wants to become a neurologist driven by a desire to make meaningful contributions to neurology and dementia research. Outside his academic pursuits, Nelson finds joy in dance, reading thriller novels, playing guitar, and cherishing moments with his loved ones and pets.
Neha Dubey

Neha is a final year PhD student at University of Calcutta, India, under the supervision of Professor Jayanti Basu and Dr Amitabha Ghosh. Her research focuses on long-term meditation intervention for early dementia, resulting in increased grey matter volume and cortical thickness in the brains of meditators. She trained in clinical psychology in India with a dissertation on mindfulness-based intervention for OCD. She has since gained several years of extensive experience in neuropsychological assessment of dementia. Neha’s summer research at MAPP examines the association between plasma NfL, executive function, and depression in younger individuals at risk for Autosomal Dominant Alzheimer’s Disease. She is also a part of the London Memory Clinic, where she researches cognition in the general population, under the guidance of Professor Narinder Kapur. A recipient of the Neuropsychology International Fellowship by the British Neuropsychological Society and British Psychological Society’s Division of Neurology, Neha aspires to become a clinical neuropsychologist. She is dedicated to culturally inclusive clinical practices and engaging in impactful research on dementia prevention and management. In her free time, Neha enjoys dancing, roller skating, playing badminton, writing poetry, cooking, and, despite being a dog-lover, watching funny cat videos.
